4 DEADLY LESSONS FROM ANIKULAPO YOU SHOULD NEVER MISS

Anikúlápó

4 deadly lessons from the movie Anikulapó that you should never miss. If you missed it, it’s not late.

It is really sweet when we consume our local content and more so, when the content is too good to even believe it was produced by a Nigerian.

Anikulapó as a movie, despite being acted in Yoruba and subtitled in English, stands in the league of recent great movies.

From LIONHEART, to KING OF BOYS, to OCTOBER 1, this one is definitely in that league.

These are movies that should be safe guarded and preserved in an art museum. 😌

Far from the peer pressure, Anikulapó is one of the movies that by the time you are done feasting, you are not just proud that you are a Nigerian. But you wish you can get more.

Onto the 4 deadly lessons from this masterpiece from Kunle Afolayan.

1. NEVER MISTAKE GOOD KNACKS FOR LOVE

Sarò and Aderoloke

Not just once but twice from the main character, Sarò. First was when he was having an affair with his sugar mommy.

Then again, good knacks also confused Aderoloke in thinking she had found love.

In the closing part, when she said she was the favourite of the King whom she had eloped from. That was the part that got to me. More like ‘a bird in hand….’

2. MAN, CONTROL THY SELF

You know the popular saying of how you only know a man’s true colours when he has money.

Sometimes, this is paraphrased to “person weh no get money to buy small stout, talk say e deh bitter.”

In another world, Sarò would have simply married the princess and made a huge business out of his textile craft. But then, Oga’s urges took over.

In all your doings, control your sexual urges as a man! It has the power to make or break you!

3. NEVER JOKE WITH A WOMAN WHO TOILED WITH YOU

Although, I didn’t enjoy the switch up from the make up. They just made my favourite character look very old within a matter of scenes.

4. KUNLE AFOLAYAN DID US A GAME OF THRONES

If there’s one thing I love, it is closure. Why keep the end too open?

Why not serve us closure at the end? Why keep us wanting more?
