Over time, I’ve attended weddings where I saw the beauty and the beast thing manifesting in real life.

Not like I haven’t seen beautiful bride and handsome groom. But majority of the couple, by majority I mean, 80%.

You attend a wedding and you wonder how is this possible?

You see your high school crush or college crush getting married and you wonder. After all the ‘yanga‘?

There was one time, I attended the wedding of a relative and I almost wanted to say, “Uncle, no vex. We no do”.

Is it God’s way of balancing the equation?

When I was younger, I felt, maybe God knows that some people were fearfully made, and so he doesn’t want them to have fearful children. So he wants to balance it.

At some point too, I felt it would be unfair for the ugly to marry ugly. I mean, what do we seek to achieve?

Is it just about the money?

There are a lot of men who believe they are not handsome and so to beat it, they need to work double, have money and all other things would be added to them.

The question goes on, why then dost this happen? The only good thing is, for the ‘not so handsome’ man — there is hope!

So, while discussing with my friend MaryJane she mentioned it, how women are scared of fine men and I decided to see how true it is.

The 5 ladies gave different answers, and you’d be so so glad to go through their thoughts, and trust me, their thoughts reflect the thoughts of a lot of ladies.

When quizzed upon the question, her response made me nod. Here goes:

“Because they (the beautiful women) feel it reduces self doubt or worries of the man doing whatever they don’t like.

Ugly men can easily be controlled in a good way just to preserve their beautiful wives

So women settle for men no one expect them to settle with, for their own ego, less worries about the man cheating (even if he does, he’d be scared to lose his cute wife) and lots more.”

Omooo. This was exactly what I responded! Sometimes, I want to feel women are more calculative than men. Ahn-Ahn!

HE’LL ALWAYS PAMPER THEM LIKE EGGS ~ Choice, charming banker

After the revelation from Jessica, I decided to hear from Choice.

When quizzed on the question, Choice said:

“Cus that’s where they find peace, and then because they know that he’ll always pamper them like eggs.

There are so many reasons. Like the way the guy go dey show you off always sef, it’s everything!“

Then I interjected, “but fine guys do show off too”. And her response continued:

Not as much. Fine guys wey sabi do shakara. If you be fine girl marry fine guy, the beauty no dey too show. But when u marry a guy that’s not fine. Ah!

So I asked her, “So women want the shakara to be one sided ehn?” She continued:

Yes na. How person go marry man wey do shakara pass her?

We’ve heard from Jessica and Choice, now let’s hear from our third lady, Tiana:

That’s a myth. That’s what people believe. It’s not always the case!

On an 80% basis, it is the case. But why does it happen?

We can’t blame it on anything really. Let’s say it’s their choice and we should respect that.

Honestly !! I really haven’t noticed So I can’t say

Though, based on my own experience, as I get older I realize it isn’t just about the looks (not saying you should get married to a person you aren’t attracted to).

but it’s more about how the person treats you and makes you feel around them.
