BOOK REVIEW: ATOMIC HABITS

Reading through the book Atomic Habits by James S. Clear, one thing was certain, this is the book that every individual needs at the start of the year.

Last year, I had founded a book club “52 BOOKS IN 365 DAYS”, from this book club I was able to achieve a lot personally. While the collective goal was 52 BOOKS, all I could do was 45 BOOKS.

But it was a huge step as the last year I was not able to even finish 20 books, so you can imagine.

INTO THE BOOK

One of the reasons why this book is awesome is the fact that James S. Clear is an author with many stories, so he was not just dropping punchlines, but he was sharing stories, a whole lot of stories and lessons.

It is pertinent to know that the very first story of the book was the author’s story, which is one that shows that anything is possible.

Another lesson from the story that is remarkable, is that of Denis Diderot, we would be dedicating a blog post to that story.

The author stresses the importance of compound interest, only this time its just not for finances. It is for habits. In the book it was even stated how to grow positive habits and how to kill off negative habits.

One of the most important lesson for me, from this book is the GOLDILOCKS RULE.

THE GOLDILOCKS RULE

The Goldilocks’ rule (paraphrased) talks about how you should enjoy your current situations, no matter how difficult it may appear to be.

The law states that humans experience peak motivation when working on tasks that are right on the edge of their current abilities. Not too hard. Not too easy. Just right.

For this, I use an illustration who can play against me in PES, playing an amateur doesn’t excite and playing a master who’s too good, also doesn’t excite.

If you haven’t read, seek for a copy of this book and start your year right!
